Granted, most of these capabilities are pretty quick to access and use the old-fashioned way as well. Task view displays all of the open application windows as thumbnails so you can select the one you want and make it the active application. The quickest way for me to see what’s open, though, and switch most efficiently to actively using a different application is Windows Key + Tab. To be honest, I’m not sure what the other eight are offhand or why I have them open. Two of them are snapped to the left and right of my display and those are the apps I’m actively using.
How many applications do you have open at one time when you’re using Windows? I just checked and I currently have ten different windows open. There are also quarter display snap modes so if you try to maximize or minimize an application window that is already snapped to the left or right of the display it will first be snapped to the upper or lower quarter (depending on which arrow you press) and require a second click of the respective arrow key to complete the action.
Windows Key + Down Arrow will restore a window to its former size if you’ve maximized it, or minimize it to the Task Bar if it’s already not maximized.
Then we have the sibling of maximize-minimize. No matter what size your monitor is, though, the ability to snap a window to the left or right half of the display with a simple key combination is very useful. My primary display is a 29-inch ultrawide monitor so snapping windows to the left and/or right is effectively equivalent to having a dual-monitor setup because each windows is essentially full-sized.
